Start Archery Week guidance for clubs
The delivery of ‘Have a Go’ events are really important to the promotion of archery and the recruitment of new participants into the sport, plus they’re a fun way to meet your community.
Planning your Start Archery Week event
Planning and prep: Think about what you want to do and nurture your ideas - Find a great venue that’s easily accessible to the community, plan a beginners' course as a follow up that you can tell interested people about on the day, agree how the day will go
Creating a buzz: Think about how to get the word out - Make sure that your social media is updated frequently and put the event prominently on your website. Ask club members to distribute posters and flyers, and seek out contacts in your local press
On the day: Welcome your participants and enjoy the day - Give everyone a warm welcome and look after them! Make sure volunteers know their roles and have a variety of activities to join in with. Collect participants details so you can invite them back
Follow up: Invite people to your next beginners' course - Thank everyone for coming (don’t forget to thank your team!) and make sure that everyone who’s interested in the beginners' course has left their details. Get in touch with participants and let them know how to sign up to your next beginners' course
