Session Coach - Starting Your Coaching Journey and Introduction to Technique
Welcome to the Archery GB Session Coach module “Starting Your Coaching Journey". This course is designed to equip aspiring coaches with the essential skills and knowledge needed to embark on their coaching journey in archery. Whether you’re new to coaching or looking to formalise your experience, this module will provide you with the tools to inspire and lead your archers to success.
Introduction to Technique: Unlock archery success with our Introduction to Technique module! Master the basics early for a fun, injury-free experience. Learn essential skills like stance, grip, nocking, drawing, aiming, and releasing. Coaches will discover effective teaching strategies, including clear demonstrations, consistent feedback, and engaging drills. Build a strong foundation and enjoy a rewarding journey in archery, whether you’re a beginner or a coach. Join us and hit the bullseye with confidence!
Key Objectives:
- Coaching Roles: Understand Session Coach responsibilities and steps for qualification.
- Safety and Welfare: Create a safe, supportive environment for participants.
- Reflective Coaching: Understanding how being a reflective coach is key in being a successful coach.
- Licensing: Learn the requirements and process to become a licensed coach.
- Technical Mastery: Teach fundamental archery techniques like stance, grip, nocking, drawing, aiming, and releasing.
- Positive Environment: Create an encouraging atmosphere that motivates archers to improve and enjoy the sport.
Duration
One day in-person workshop: Join us for an engaging, all-day workshop designed to be both informative and interactive. You’ll participate in hands-on activities, group discussions, and practical exercises, guided by experienced Coach Developers. This workshop offers a collaborative and supportive environment to enhance your skills and knowledge.
Venue: Samlesbury Memorial Hall, Cuerdale Lane, Samlesbury, Preston PR5 0UY
Dates: Saturday, 6 September 2025
Time: 9:00am to 5:00pm
Price: This workshop costs £85 per learner
Additional Information:
- Participants will receive a printed Session Coach Workbook.
- A digital version of the Session Coach Workbook will also be provided.
- Upon completion, you’ll gain access to our online learning platform, “Learning Curve,” to enhance your learning experience.
- A certificate will be awarded upon successful completion.
Order of sequence to take modules: Please note all Session Coach modules should be taken in the following order:
- Module 1 - Starting Your Coaching Journey
- Module 2 - Empowering Archery (Part 1)
- Module 3 - Introduction to Technique
- Module 4 - Creating Engaging Sessions
- Module 5 - Using Your Coaching Skills (individuals should only register for this workshop when modules 1-4 have been completed)
- Module 6 - Supported Practice & Coach Presentation (individuals should only register for this workshop when modules 1-5 and the 12 hours of supported practice have been fully completed)
Outcomes:
By the end of this module, you will have a solid foundation in coaching archery. You will be equipped with the skills to create a positive impact on your archers’ development, fostering a love for the sport and helping them achieve their full potential. Youn will have an understanding of the technical Framework to create skilful archers.

Learner Cancellation/Transfer Policy:
- All requests for transfers made by Learners will incur an admin charge of £5 (unless prior agreement has been made).
- Cancellations by Learners within 10 days of a Session Coach module commencing will incur the full cost of the module.
- No-shows will be charged the full session fee.
- Learners arriving more than 15 minutes after the start time will be considered a no-show. This is to avoid disruption to the Coach Developer and the other learners.
