Session Coach – Empowering Archery (Part 1) and Creating Engaging Sessions

Empowering Archery (Part 1):  This module is tailored for individuals involved in running an archery club, coaching archers, officiating at events, or supporting young archers. It covers how to create environments to allow everyone to thrive. Focus on their motivations and how your role can facilitate building a lifelong love for archery.

By participating, you will gain the skills to create an empowering environment within your archery club. Topics covered include:

  • Defining ‘empowerment’ in the context of archery.
  • Understanding the health benefits specific to archery.
  • Establishing the foundational elements for an empowering archery climate.
 

Our program is based on well-established motivational research and specific studies in archery, delivered in collaboration with the University of Birmingham.

Creating Engaging Sessions: Creating engaging sessions for beginners requires thoughtful planning. This module helps coaches design courses that are enjoyable and beneficial, focusing on clear instructions, interactive activities, and a supportive environment. Coaches will learn to tailor content to meet participants’ needs, ensuring a positive and educational experience.  

Key Objectives:

  • Empowering Coaching Roles: Understand the crucial responsibilities of a Session Coach and the steps required to complete the qualification.
  • Safety and Welfare Empowerment: Learn to maintain a safe and supportive environment for all archers.
  • Communication: Improve clear and effective communication with archers.
  • Session Planning: Design engaging coaching sessions tailored to archers' needs.
 

Duration

One day in-person workshop: Join us for an engaging, all-day workshop designed to be both informative and interactive. You’ll participate in hands-on activities, group discussions, and practical exercises, guided by experienced Coach Developers. This workshop offers a collaborative and supportive environment to enhance your skills and knowledge.

 

Venue: Samlesbury Memorial Hall, Cuerdale Lane, Samlesbury, Preston PR5 0UY

Dates: Saturday, 13 September 2025

 

Time:  9:00am to 5:00pm

 

Price:  This module costs £85 per learner

  

Additional Information:

  • A digital version of the workbook Empowering Archery (Part 1) will be provided.
  • A certificate will be awarded upon successful completion.
 

Outcomes:

By the end of this module, you will be a confident and inspiring archery coach. You will possess the skills to significantly enhance your archers’ development, ignite their passion for the sport, and empower them to achieve their highest potential. As well as knowing how to design engaging beginner sessions, provide clear instructions, incorporate interactive activities, and create a supportive learning environment

Learner Cancellation/Transfer Policy

  • All requests for transfers made by Learners will incur an admin charge of £5 (unless prior agreement has been made).
  • Cancellations by Learners within 10 days of a Session Coach module commencing will incur the full cost of the module.
  • No-shows will be charged the full session fee.
  • Learners arriving more than 15 minutes after the start time will be considered a no-show. This is to avoid disruption to the Coach Developer and the other learners.
