Archery GB Instructor Plus+ Award

The Archery GB Instructor Plus+ Award is designed for instructors who aim to develop archers beyond the introductory level. This course focuses on enhancing participants' skills and knowledge, enabling them to coach archers who have already experienced a taster or "have a go" session. The course covers advanced shooting techniques, safety management, session planning, and equipment maintenance, with a particular emphasis on shooting at greater distances.

Course Objectives:

  • Develop participants' ability to refine archers' shooting form and accuracy at greater distances. 
  • Equip instructors with the skills to design and deliver multiple engaging and varied archery sessions.
  • Ensure comprehensive understanding and implementation of safety protocols.
  • Teach effective maintenance and basic repair of recurve bows and related equipment.
  • Provide continuous assessment and constructive feedback to support archers' progression.

The course includes both eLearning and face-to-face components to provide a comprehensive learning experience.

eLearning Components:

  • Introduction to the Course: Overview, objectives, and expectations.
  • Basic Archery Theory: Principles of biomechanics and equipment overview.
  • Safety Protocols: Comprehensive safety measures and emergency procedures.
  • Equipment Maintenance Basics: Introduction to bow and arrow maintenance and basic repairs.

Face-to-Face Components:

  • Refining Shooting Form: Detailed instruction and practical drills for shooting at greater distances.
  • Sighted Shooting Techniques: Techniques for using sights to improve accuracy.
  • Range Layout and Safety: Best practices for setting up and supervising a range.
  • Coaching Techniques: Methods for teaching, session planning, and adaptability.
  • Equipment Maintenance and Repair: Hands-on practice for maintaining and repairing recurve bows.

This course is ideal for archery instructors who have completed the Archery GB Instructor Award and are looking to advance their coaching skills to support the development of novice archers.

Participants will be assessed continuously throughout the course on their practical skills, coaching techniques, and understanding of safety and equipment maintenance. Constructive feedback will be provided to help participants improve and succeed.

Upon successful completion, participants will be equipped with the skills and knowledge to effectively coach archers at greater distances, ensuring their ongoing development and enjoyment of the sport.
