The venue is a multi-purpose sports field. All-carbon arrow shafts are very strongly discouraged. All-carbon arrow owners shall be responsible for recovering all lost arrows before the field is vacated and shall be responsible for paying any search or recovery costs.
Rounds: Double WA 720
- Recurves – 70 m
- Compound – 50 m
- Longbow – 70 m
- Barebow – 50 m
There is no 50+ category at this event, however wherever the distance and target size is the same for the Adult and 50+ age groups, your scores will be eligible for a County Record in both categories.
Bosses: All bow styles will shoot on either ‘Eleven’ foam slabs or laminated foam.
Faces: Recurve, Longbow, Barebow and Asiatic archers use 122cm Faces; Compound Archers use 6-zone 80cm Faces.
Registration: Available from 8.15am. Entrants must produce their registration card or proof of membership for inspection at Registration.
Allow time for Kit Inspection: prior to Assembly.
Awards: Sussex Championship Awards are open to members of the Sussex County Archery Association, upon completing both rounds. Visitor Medals will be awarded to class winners of double rounds who are not members of SCAA. Awards will be given to Ladies and Gentlemen according to Round and Bowstyle.
This is a senior archer event, however if cadet or juniors archers wish to enter, they will be competing as an adult. The Sussex Junior Championships is on the 20th of September 2025.
Medals will be awarded according to the number of archers competing in the category.
Entry Fees: £18 Double round, payable via Sport 80 at time of entry.
No refunds after 17 June 2025. Any refund issued will have the Stripe fees deducted, ie. You will receive less than £18 refund.
Event Timings: Assembly followed by 20 minutes practice.
Equipment Inspection: from 8.30am
Assembly: 9.10am
Practice: 9.15am to 9.40am
Commence Shooting: 9.45am
Shooting Rules: Shooting is to be regulated in accordance with the World Archery Rules of Shooting in force at the time. Up to four archers per target. This competition is open only to individuals affiliated to GNAS/ArcheryGB or a WA member association.
At both distances shooting will be in two details of six-arrows-ends (3 minutes allowed). Shooting to be controlled by visual display and audible signals. Entrants may use any GNAS Target Bow Styles except for Crossbows. Please see Rule 303 for recognised bowstyles.
Dress: This is a World Records Status Tournament. Entrants must dress in accordance with Archery GB dress regulations as shown in Rule 307. Archers must wear footwear that entirely encloses their feet, and may not wear frayed, camouflage, olive drab, or denim clothing, or clothes that carry non-archery advertising.
Drug Testing: Archers competing at World Record events may be liable for drug testing. Competitors who are approached to give samples must comply. Non-compliance will be treated as a positive result.
Photography: In accordance with the GNAS Protection of Children and Vulnerable Adults Policy, anyone wishing to take photographs at the event must register with the Tournament Organiser on arrival at the venue.
Please note SCAA intends to publish pictures taken at the event on their websites as previously and encourage publication in archery magazines and elsewhere to help promote the sport. Pictures published by SCAA will not be captioned in a way that identifies individuals unless the subjects positively consent. By entering the tournament, participants and/or their parents/guardians) confirm agreement to this policy. Local newspapers and TV or radio stations may send reporters who may have different standards that SCAA cannot be held responsible for.
Archers’ special requirements: If you have any special needs such as space for a tactile sight, wheelchair, stool or electric buggy, or space for a helper dog, or a privacy tent, etc, please indicate on the form. If you need more space to write your requirement please email the Tournament Organiser. If you use a wheelchair or similar but are able to get to and from the line readily in the time allowed, the Tournament Organiser would appreciate if you say so in case there is exceptional demand for places; although generally wheelchair etc users will be allocated both details.
Data Protection/GDPR: When entering this event, the following information may be collected and shared with tournament organisers. For example, scoring systems, other competitors, target lists and results may be published including: First Name, Surname, Gender, Bow style, Date of Birth/Age Category, Email, Address, Phone number, Club (and ID), County (and ID), Region (and ID), Round (unless defined by age), Disabled Y/N, Disability info. This information may be archived for posterity. Entrants also agree that address data may be held for up to 3 years sand be used to publicise future archery events, but may opt- out of receiving publicity communications by contacting the Tournament Organiser and requesting removal from the list. Entry to this event is considered as acceptance of this.
Smoking: Smoking is not permitted in the school grounds. No naked flame burners will be permitted inside or near competitors’ tents. Entry to this event is considered acceptance of this policy.
Animals: Only registered assistance dogs are permitted on the field and MUST be kept on a lead and remain behind the waiting line at all times.
Refreshments: A selection of hot and cold drinks will be available during the day.
Car Parking: Car parking is available as per the attached map. Please be aware other sporting clubs operate at weekends within the school grounds, so it can get busy. Any archer requiring disabled parking please contact the Tournament Organiser by email.

WE RECOMMEND YOU BRING AN ARROW-PULLER. THE ‘ELEVEN’ BOSSES DON’T ALWAYS LIKE TO GIVE UP ARROWS WITHOUT A STRUGGLE.

This is the first year of running this event via Sport80. Therefore all archers are recommended to apply promptly as places will be allocated in order of entry regardless of county/age.
