The junior UK rankings are getting a refresh for 2025

The process of achieving and submitting scores for the junior UK target rankings are changing for 2025.

A group of Archery GB staff and volunteers came together to discuss the options for adapting the rankings based on several factors, primarily focusing on feedback received from archers, parents/carers, and Tournament Organisers. Archery GB hope that these changes will allow the rankings to be more inclusive, adding value to more junior competitions across the country.

The biggest change from previous years is the addition of the St George/Albion/Windsor rounds and the new 900 rounds, both of which are being shot at the Junior National Outdoor Championships this summer. We have also added the Metric 122-40 round to the rankings for U15 recurves, reflecting its competitive usage at the Junior Archery Series. Finally, we have removed the requirement for a 12-dozen round to be shot.

To make it easier for archers and parents, we are starting a process this year to move towards rankings that are automatically compiled without the need for scores to be submitted at the end of the year. For now, this means that scores shot at official Archery GB events will be automatically included in the rankings, unless better scores are submitted by the archers. We hope to expand this to cover all suitable events in the coming years.

The rankings will be calculated using your three best outdoor rounds of the year, which can be taken from any of the following families of rounds shot at World or UK status events:

  • 1440/metrics
  • York, Hereford, Bristols
  • WA 70/60/50m and Metric 122-X and 80-X
  • St George/Albion/Windsors
  • 900 rounds

Which rounds are eligible?

This table shows which rounds are eligible for each bowstyle, gender, and age group. Some rounds are eligible for all bowstyles, but others are specific to a particular bowstyle. You must submit three scores. Scores must be shot between 1 March and 5 October 2025, and they must be shot at World or UK Record Status events.

How do I know which ones are my best scores?

The handicap system allows you to compare scores across different rounds. Use the handicap tables to look up the handicap for a round/score, or use an online tool, and choose the ones with the lowest handicap. Final rankings are calculated by adding together the three individual score handicaps, giving a final rating somewhere between 0 and 450, with 0 being the best.

What about double rounds?

For the purposes of rankings, double rounds are treated as two separate single rounds and should be submitted as singles. You can use one or both halves for your ranking submissions.

How do I submit my scores?

A form will be available for archers to submit scores at the end of summer 2025.

To reduce the burden on archers, scores from some events will automatically be included in the ranking calculation, so manual submission via the form is only required for better scores shot at other events. We will ensure the best three scores are used for the final calculation.

Scores shot at these official Archery GB events will be included automatically:

  • Junior National Outdoor Championships
  • All Junior Archery Series stages, including Youth Festival
  • The Grand National Archery Meeting
  • All National Tour stages

We welcome the submission of scores for automatic inclusion in the rankings from other Tournament Organisers, especially if they are running a junior-specific event. Results can be submitted in the same way as the senior rankings - for example, an Ianseo shoot file or a suitable CSV format. For more guidance, please contact rankings@archerygb.org.
