Marchers for Archers

Set yourself a personal challenge this March while supporting your fellow archers with Marchers for Archers. Whether its counting arrows or going the distance, your efforts could help support disabled archers by raising money for the Access Archery Fund.

You can pick your own challenge or use one of our suggestions below, it’s up to you. Download your sponsorship form or set up a JustGiving page by following our step-by-step instructions available from the Resources section of this page.

Then head on over to our shop and order your finishers’ medal. Medals will be sent out in April, so you have all of March to complete your challenge and pay in any donations.

Your money will go to the Access Archery Fund which awards grants to clubs and activity partners to support more disabled people into archery.

What challenge should I do?

Your challenge can be tailored to your archery ability or personal goals, but we’ve got a few suggestions to get you started:

  1. Shoot 1,000 arrows. Aim for volume with this archery challenge and give yourself a target this March.
  2. Walk 10,000 steps a day. Whether collecting arrows, going for a walk or on the school run, track your steps with this walking goal.
  3. Set yourself a distance challenge of 10 miles in your wheelchair for the month. Track your distance as you’re out and about or at the club with this distance challenge for wheelchair users.

Who can take part?

Anyone is welcome to enter the Marchers for Archers fundraising challenge, it’s open to Archery GB members, Archery Activity Partners, clubs, schools, scouting groups and anyone who wants to support disabled archers.

Hear from some of the people already taking part:

Erin Ann Dobbin

Archery GB Ambassador Erin Ann Dobbin said: "This March, I’m challenging myself to walk 10,000 steps every day and shoot a total of 1,000 arrows in support of Marchers for Archers. I’m taking on this challenge to help raise vital funds for the Access Archery Fund, which works to ensure that more people with disabilities can experience the incredible sport of archery.”

Gayle Pink, Archery GB's Head of Participation, said: "'I am challenging myself to do 10,000 steps a day to support Marchers for Archers. I want to help raise money for the Access Archery Fund, to help more people with disabilities experience the amazing sport of archery."

How do I enter?

  1. Once you’ve chosen your challenge, print off a sponsorship form or set up a JustGiving page. Write your personal challenge on the top of the form or in the description on the page.
  2. Ask your clubmates, work colleagues, friends and family to sponsor you and share your challenge on social media using the hashtag #MarchersForArchers. Don’t forget to tag @archerygb so we can share and like your posts.
  3. Head on over to our shop and order your finishers’ medal by 21 March.

How do I pay in my sponsorship?

You can find instructions on how to set up your JustGiving page in the Resources section of this page. Once your page is live you can share it via your social media accounts, messaging apps or email. Ask your club, workplace or school to share the link in any newsletters or websites. Donations will go straight to the fund direct from your page. Don’t forget to ask people to tick gift aid if they are UK tax payers as that will increase the money the fund receives.

If you’d prefer not to ask people to sponsor you, you could organise a cake sale or offer your skills for a fee. Maybe you could fletch your clubmates’ arrows or set up a car wash at the club.

How do I get my medal?

Medals will be sent out to everyone who ordered one in April. You’ll also be sent a link to download or print your certificate to display with pride at your clubhouse or home.

Where will my donations go?

Your donations will go into the Access Archery Fund which is administered by the Fletchers’ Trust with the support of Archery GB. In April, the fund will open to applications from clubs and activity partners who want to support more disabled people into the sport. The funding could pay for adaptive devices such as release aids or ramps, training such as disability awareness or British Sign Language courses or community events such as welcoming a group of disabled people to a bespoke beginners’ course or have a go event.

How else can I help the fund?

You can make a donation to the fund at any time. Click this link for instructions on the many ways you can donate.

You can also buy an Access Archery Fund badge to wear with pride while completing your challenge or to raise awareness of the fund.

How can my club get involved in supporting the fund?

Challenge your club mates to join you in doing the Marchers for Archers challenge. You could set up a fundraising page for your team and join forces to raise even more money.

If you’re a school or uniform group, you can set each person a minimum £20 target to enable them to claim their Marchers for Archers medal. If they don’t hit their fundraising target, you can still download them a fundraisers’ certificate from this page in April.

You can also support the fund by organising your own fundraising event. Click the button below to download our fundraising guide full of event ideas, promotional materials, and a sponsor form. Plus, you can also download social media images and posters for you to use and share.
