Get ready for National School Sport Week at Home, 20 – 26 June

Archery GB is preparing to join the Youth Sport Trust and Sky Sports to help young people and families up and down the country engage in a week of virtual sporting challenges, taking place 20 - 26 June.

With young people set to miss out on a school sport day this summer, the Youth Sport Trust's (YST) annual National School Sport Week campaign is this year being opened up to parents and families and reinvented as National School Sport Week at Home, a one-stop shop for information and the all-important options on registering for National School Sport Week at Home as a school, parent or carer, or organisation.

Through a number of virtual sporting challenges, the UK-wide campaign will give families, communities, schools and sports clubs the chance to capture the enjoyment, competition and camaraderie they have been missing out on during weeks of school closures and social distancing. It's a great opportunity to connect in these difficult times.

Archery GB and YST have created some fun archery-related activity resources like the one pictured below (downloadable here), designed to help with coordination, patience and control. You can also download a host of other activity ideas here.

Youth Sport Trust Chief Executive Ali Oliver said: Â"The Youth Sport Trust is thrilled to see supporters like Archery GB backing National School Sport Week at Home to ensure no child misses out on their school sports day this summer."

The campaign builds on the Youth Sport Trust's #StayHomeStayActive campaign which has been supporting schools, parents and young people with daily free resources to get young people moving and enjoying the PE curriculum while at home.

Anyone can register to take part and will receive videos and activity cards to help them plan a series of challenges across the week for their families, neighbours, friends or colleagues. The active challenges will all have an emphasis on togetherness, inclusivity and wellbeing. They will be things you can do within the home, and where you can engage in straightforward virtual competition with friends, neighbours and family outside your home.

So don't forget to register to take part in National School Sport Week at Home to gain access to a host of activity ideas! And once you're involved, remember to use the hashtag #NSSWtogether to follow and share the action on social media.

Let us know how you get on too @ArcheryGB! (Facebook and Twitter).
