Session Coach – Starting Your Coach Journey and Empowering Archery (Part 1)

Starting Your Coaching Journey:  This module is designed to equip aspiring coaches with the essential skills and knowledge needed to embark on their coaching journey in archery. Whether you’re new to coaching or looking to formalise your experience, this module will provide you with the tools to inspire and lead your archers to success.

 

Empowering Archery (Part 1):  This module is tailored for individuals involved in running an archery club, coaching archers, officiating at events, or supporting young archers.

 

By participating, you will gain the skills to create an empowering environment within your archery club. Topics covered include:

  • Defining ‘empowerment’ in the context of archery.
  • Understanding the health benefits specific to archery.
  • Establishing the foundational elements for an empowering archery climate.
 

Our Empowering Archery program is based on well-established motivational research and specific studies in archery, delivered in collaboration with the University of Birmingham.

 

Key Objectives:

  • Coaching Roles: Understand the responsibilities of a Session Coach and the steps to become licensed.
  • Safety and Welfare: Create and maintain a safe, supportive environment.
  • Reflective Coaching: Recognize the importance of being a reflective coach.
  • Technical Skills Mastery: Master fundamental archery techniques and teaching methods.
  • Communication: Improve clear and effective communication with archers.
  • Session Planning: Design engaging coaching sessions tailored to archers' needs.
  • Licensing: Learn the process to become a licensed coach and practice empowered coaching.
 

Duration:

One day in-person workshop: Join us for an engaging, all-day workshop designed to be both informative and interactive. You’ll participate in hands-on activities, group discussions, and practical exercises, guided by experienced Coach Developers. This workshop offers a collaborative and supportive environment to enhance your skills and knowledge.

 

Venue:  Southampton Archery Club, Hardmoor Sports Ground, Stoneham Lane, Southampton SO50 9HT


Date:  Sunday, 25 January 2026 

Time:  9am-5pm

 

Price:  This workshop costs £80 per learner

 

Additional Information:

  • Participants will receive a printed Session Coach Workbook.
  • A digital version of the Session Coach Workbook will also be provided.
  • A digital version of the workbook Empowering Archery (Part 1) will be provided.
  • Upon completion, you’ll gain access to our online learning platform, “Learning Curve,” to enhance your learning experience.
  • A certificate for each module will be awarded upon successful completion.
  

Outcomes:

By the end of this workshop, you will have a solid foundation in coaching archery and be a confident, inspiring coach. You will be equipped with the skills to create a positive impact on your archers’ development, fostering a love for the sport, and empowering them to achieve their highest potential.

Learner Cancellation and Transfer Policy

  • All transfer requests will receive a refund of their fees, minus £5 admin fee and any transaction charges. Learners must then re-register for the next available module/workshop.
  • Archery GB reserves the right to cancel or reschedule sessions, modify terms, or refuse service under certain conditions.
  • Cancellations by Learners within 10 days of a Session Coach module commencing will incur the full cost of the module/workshop (£30 for online modules and £80 for in-person workshops).
  • No-shows will be charged the full session fee.  They must then re-register for the next available module/workshop.
 

All registrations and payments are now processed through Sport80. We recommend that individuals register and pay directly via Sport80, if they are receiving support from their club then the learner should pay first and then claim any funding back through their club. If this isn’t feasible, please reach out to us at coaching@archerygb.org, and we’ll do our best to assist you.
