An archery team and athlete have been nominated in the Jersey Sports Council Awards for their performance at the Island Games.
Jersey Archery have been nominated for Team of the Year while Lucy O'Sullivan has been nominated in the category of Sport Person of the Year for her individual contribution to the team.
The team came away with 5 golds, 2 silver and 4 bronze medals at the 2023 Island Games bringing the total medal haul to 11. Jersey topped the medal table for archery and placed 3rd behind swimming and athletics for Team Jersey. This is the most successful results that archery have achieved since the Island Games started in 1985.
Angela Perrett, one of the team members, said the archery team consistently trained together as a team and were supportive of each other both during practice and at the games. he hard work both on the field and in the gym in the preceding 12 months allowed them to perform at their best. She added: "For a number of team members this was their first games and those that had been before supported them in their quest for both individual and team medals. Being a minority sport, the archery team are delighted to have been nominated for the award."Compound Team
