The final day of Nimes rewarded British archers with precious medals - gold for Layla Annison in the Compound Junior Women category and bronze for Kai Thomas-Prause (pictured together) in the Compound Junior Men.
Shortly after 9am in the junior finals, Kai Thomas-Prause set about shooting his way to a bronze medal against fellow Brit Adam Carpenter in the Compound Junior Men. The final score was 146-138. Kai told us: Â"It feels pretty good, although it was a lot of hard work. I had a bit of a shaky start at qualification stage but managed to pick it up in the matches.”
An hour later, Layla confidently shot her way past USA opponent Savannah Vanderwier, gaining a score of 145-141 and the gold medal. Layla said: Â"Winning feels surreal - I never thought I'd actually do it. The qualification stage was alright but the matches played were great and I'm really happy.”
The day's double wins for Britain add to the bronze won by Debbie Geddes in the Recurve Master Women category on Saturday.
