The 2024 British Field medallists take to the podium at Overton Black Arrows
Across the 25-26 May weekend 186 archers shooting seven different bowstyles came to compete for this year’s coveted titles. Sunny spells and occasional showers cast over the scenic and challenging Hampshire courses.
Jake Walsh and Susan Corless became compound champions this year, and Conor Hall and Eleanor Piper took the recurve top spots. Barebow accolades went to Oliver Hicks and Sarah Hubbard. The 2024 traditional bow champions are Steve Allam and Carrie Davies, the English Longbow category was won by Daniel Hawley and Sarah Roderick, and the men's American Flatbow champion is Brendan Reese. David Mahers took the Asiatic Bow top spot and the compound barebow winners were Simon Price and Marion Patterson.
Arran Coggan, Archery GB Director of Sport attended on Sunday and awarded the medals and trophies. Arran said: “It was a very successful event held in beautiful scenery. Congratulations and thank you to all involved in making it a success and well done to all those who took part; it was lovely to see everyone out there enjoying field archery”.

Steve Allam, Tournament Organiser at Overton Black Arrows, along with Susie Allam and Maurice Berridge, who set the two courses, told us that it had been a very hard couple of months for the club making sure the courses were ready for the Championship. The growth in field archery over the last year or two meant that two courses were needed to accommodate everyone who wanted to shoot, so it became a big event to organise, but they were able to deliver with a lot of support from club members and local volunteers. Thank you to the whole team for putting on a fantastic event.
