Sharing information can be empowering and if you've ever experienced racism in sport, telling your story as part of a new sports councils initiative, will be an important step on the road to positive change, ultimately leading to the shaping of future policy.
A new research programme, #TellYourStory, run in conjunction with UK Sport and the four sports councils, is inviting sportspeople of all levels to send their experiences of participating in sport - this includes if you've left sport or never felt able or have felt excluded from getting involved in sports. The programme also welcomes stories from coaches, parents, fans, and people who volunteer or work in sport - all stories matter.
UK Sport, Sport England, Sport Wales, sportscotland and Sport Northern Ireland understand that things must change and want to learn from you. The research team will use the information to identify patterns and trends and then create a report that captures your experiences.
Personal stories will be collected via virtual forums and stories submitted to the campaign's website - either in written, audio or video form.
Find out how to tell your story here, and follow the conversation on social media using the hashtag #TellYourStory
The story deadline is 15 February 2021.
