European Field Championships 2019

This year, the European Field Championships are being held in Mokrice, Slovenian, the same place it was held of the 2017 European Field Championships. Two years ago, GB walked away with five medals, could it be more this time?

Senior

Bryony Pitman, part of the team who qualified the Olympic spaces for 2020 and third place National Tour finalist, finished ranked first in the recurve women division. She scored 706 total, with 347 unmarked and 359 marked.  This was Bryony's first year shooting as a senior at the European Field Championships, in 2017 she walked away with bronze in the recurve junior women. As she has qualified in top seed, Bryony is automatically through to the top four and will be shooting in the semi-final matches, along with Jessica Tomasi and two others on Friday.

Bryony told us, "Everything just clicked today! Yesterday I was shooting well but my gauging was a bit off, so I was confident in my shooting going into today. It was a PB for the marked round and for the two days and it's nice to be rewarded for that with a place in the semis".

In the recurve men, Mark Nesbitt is currently ranked seventh with a combined score of 714 after shooting 365 unmarked and 349 marked. Mark, along with Jason Meehan and Tom Duncan are ranked in fourth in the Men Team division behind France, Sweden and Italy.

The compound men is a different story to what we are used to, only Tom Duncan has made the cut into the elimination rounds after ranking seventh with 813 combined score with 412 unmarked and 401 marked. Chris White and Dean Hamilton did not make the cut after shooting 793 and 786 respectively. Tom will be shooting in match C2 tomorrow against either Germany's Yannick Schuetz or Christian Däldborg from Sweden.

Â"It's been two days of hard work in the hills of Slovenia, but I'm really happy to have made the cut alongside some of the best archers in the World, not just in Europe, and be in a decent position for the head to heads”, Tom explained. Â"I am also really pleased with how we've qualified as a team, and hopefully we can get through to the medals.”

Hope Greenwood has ranked sixth with a 401 unmarked and 380 marked, 781 total. After day one, Hope was sat in third place, but her marked score pushed her down today.
