Archery GB and The Worshipful Company of Fletchers are delighted to announce that Paralympic squad archer Jamie Harris was awarded the Fletchers' Cup at an online presentation on 11 November.
The Worshipful Company of Fletchers awarded their trophy to para archer Jamie Harris in recognition of the hard work and commitment he has applied to his training, despite the challenges of Covid-19.
In attendance at the virtual presentation were the Master of the Fletchers, Stuart Robbens, Chairman of the Fletchers' Trust, Chris Brown, together with fellow trustee Andrew McMillan and other members of the Fletchers, plus Tom Duggan, Archery GB's Acting Director of Performance, Olympic Team Director, David Tillotson, and Jamie Harris.
The Master acknowledged the unusual circumstances for the presentation, which meant that Jamie could only get a glimpse of the trophy on screen, which in previous years has also been awarded to fellow para archers Hazel Chaisty, Ken Hargreaves and Dai Davies. The Master said: Â"The Fletchers' Cup is usually given to the archer whose score has improved the most, and although the Disability Championships were not held this year, we were keen to seek out a worthy recipient. Jamie, it is testimony to your continued hard work and diligence during these difficult times that you have been selected as the recipient of the award. You have maintained your strict training regime and been driven to look to the future, when your efforts can be further recognised. This award can be regarded as a stepping stone to future achievements.”

Tom Duggan, Archery GB's Acting Director of Performance, said: Â"We nominated you, Jamie, because you have been an asset to the Paralympic programme since you joined us a couple of years ago. We know you have applied yourself throughout the lockdown with your usual dedication, and being away from Lilleshall hasn't stopped you from progressing."
The Fletchers will have the cup engraved with Jamie's name, and hope to present it in person when circumstances allow. A certificate was also sent to Jamie, who said: Â"It's really been an honour that my commitment has been recognised. Thank you very much.”
