Parents in Sport Week begins: 5-11 October

Parents is Sport Week has returned! Run by the NSPCC Child Protection in Sport Unit (CPSU), the campaign aims to highlight the important role parents play in youth sport - from helping to keep children safe, to encouraging them to take part and stay active.

The theme of this year's CPSU Parents in Sport Week campaign is ‘Let's talk about keeping children safe in sport' and the aim is to raise awareness amongst parents of the types of things clubs should have in place to keep children safe, and how parents can get help with any concerns.

A key part of the campaign is the Sports Parents Promise, a three-point pledge for parents to support their child and help ensure their journey in sport is safe:

The Sports Parents Promise

  1. I promise to listen to you if you have any concerns about your sport
  2. I promise to learn how your club keeps you safe and what I can do to help
  3. I promise to make sure that I set a good example and support you (and your teammates) in a positive way

It is hoped this pledge will help parents understand how their contribution to their child's sport makes it a safer place for all children.
