Personal accident insurance added to Archery GB member benefits

Archery GB have enhanced individual membership benefits with the addition of personal accident insurance.

The policy will cover members with an active Archery GB membership, who are resident in Great Britain, with effect from 1 October 2024.

Participating in archery is not without its risks, whether you are competing, training, or practicing, an injury may occur which could change someone's life. Personal accident insurance is designed to offer financial help with the provision of a lump sum payment if you suffer a serious injury or death as a result of an accident.

This 'no fault' policy provides cover to Archery GB members up to the age of 80, for injuries sustained as a result of Archery GB recognised archery activities within recognised archery environments. Cover also extends to include direct travel to and from any Archery GB authorised or recognised activity within Great Britain.

To be covered for travel you must be undertaking a direct journey within Great Britain to a recognised Archery GB environment such as a club, training session or recognised competition. “Direct journey” means from your home to the club, competition venue, or training grounds, with no stop in between.

What to do in the event of a claim

If you have sustained an archery injury, please contact Howden Claims Teams on 0121 698 8040 within 90 days of the accident occurring and complete the necessary claim form.

  • You will need to provide confirmation of your membership before Howden's can advise on potential benefits available.
  • For all injuries, insurers will require medical confirmation of the injury, e.g. a discharge letter from the A&E or hospital you attended.
  • If you qualify for the broken bones benefit you will need to supply a copy of discharge notes/medical confirmation of the fracture.
  • If you qualify for the physiotherapy or osteopathy benefit, any claim must be supported with a written referral from the insured person’s medical practitioner who is their NHS GP or someone who practices within their NHS GP surgery.

Additional guidance will be provided by the Howden Claims Team dependant on the injury sustained and benefit(s) that may be applicable.
