Sport England's Community Emergency Fund boosted by £15m – last chance to apply!

The clock is ticking for applications to Sport England's Community Emergency Fund, which was created to help the sport and physical activity sector through the Covid-19 crisis.

Sport England's initial £20m Community Emergency Fund was part of a total £195m support package that was made available in March for the sport and physical activity sector, and on 11 May that has been boosted by another £15m of National Lottery money to meet demand.

Don't delay - get your applications in now as the scheme will be paused at 11.59pm on Thursday 14 May to enable assessors to process all remaining applications, before they then reflect on the fund's impact and consider what ongoing support clubs and community groups will need as restrictions are eased in the future.

It's simple to apply for the fund - just watch our helpful step-by-step video by Hayley Wickens of Wallingford Castle Archers on how to apply.

Marc Tamyln, also from Wallingford Castle Archers, said: "The application process to Sport England was very straightforward, with a structured set of questions to answer via a web portal; after submitting this, including some brief financial details, we had an answer back in just over two weeks, being awarded 80% of what we asked for. Top marks to Sport England for a fast turnaround, even though Easter fell in the middle of this period.

"Being awarded the grant money has come as a huge relief; the funds will cover our ground maintenance and other ongoing running costs, and enable the club to continue to operate into winter 2020 and beyond. In these difficult times, not having to worry about the survival of our club gives all our members something to look forward to when things return to normal, and we are very grateful to Sport England for this funding.”
