Sport England's Join the Movement campaign returns to inspire us to keep active this winter

Remember how we were all urged to keep active when Covid-19 changed our lives back in the spring? Well, the message is ringing in our ears once again with Sir Geoff Hurst leading Sport England's award-winning Join the Movement campaign to inspire us to take regular exercise over the winter period.

The World Cup winner, Geoff Hurst, has been joined by Olympic champion Sally Gunnell, England rugby player Rachael Burford, TV presenters Anthea Turner and Kirsty Gallacher, fitness trainer Lucy Wyndham-Read and Great British Bake Off winner Candice Brown in encouraging people to Join the Movement and be active in any way that works for them this winter.

Â"I'll be getting out the house every day for a 40-minute walk around my local park, as well as 20-minute Joe Wicks workouts six days a week,” said Sir Geoff. Â"It doesn't matter how old you are, how fit you are or the equipment you have access to, there is an activity out there for everyone.”

Join the Movement is Sport England's award-winning national campaign that uses National Lottery funding to inspire people to stay and get active, indoors and out, as we endure Covid restrictions.

Physical activity delivers immediate mental health and social benefits, while having a long-term positive impact on our physical health. Getting active in the way that's right for us - and planning how we're going to keep going through the colder, darker months - will help us cope with the ongoing impact of coronavirus restrictions. The Autumn and Winter Activity Toolkit, curated by Sport England and regularly updated, will make it easier for anyone trying to help their communities find the locally relevant tools, advice and information they need to get and keep moving.
