Join the fight to save struggling charities from the financial impact of Covid-19 by taking on The 2.6 Challenge, an exciting fundraising event set to take place on Sunday 26 April.
Fancy doing your bit for charity this weekend? The 2.6 Challenge offers a great opportunity to support your favourite charity, or every charity, from the comfort of your home, garden or through your once-daily exercise. So what's the relevance of 2.6? The Virgin Money London Marathon alone, which should have taken place on Sunday 26 April, is the world's biggest one-day fundraising event, which raised more than £66.4 million for thousands of charities in 2019.
Thousands of fundraising events across the UK have been cancelled owing to Covid-19 with a devastating impact on charity income that means many charities are facing closure. The National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO) CEO Karl Wilding estimates that the UK charity sector will lose £4 billion in income as a result of the pandemic.
This impacts all sectors of society - from children to the elderly - as well as the vital work in areas such as palliative care, serious diseases, mental health, housing support, food supplies and countless others that charities support.
The 2.6 Challenge is a chance to support the vital work that our charities do. You can help by choosing an activity based around the numbers 2.6 or 26 that suits your skills and completing it on Sunday 26 April - when the 40th London Marathon would have taken place.
The 2.6 Challenge can be any activity you like - from running 2.6 miles to holding an online workout with 26 of your friends. Check out recent content on our Facebook and Twitter feeds @ArcheryGB for ideas on how you might turn this into an archery challenge - perhaps there's an equipment or fitness challenge you can set yourself to complete in 26 or 2.6 minutes. You can also find inspiration through the 2.6 Challenge website.
You can take part whatever your age or ability. Take the first steps on your 2.6 Challenge journey here. Choose your #TwoPointSixChallenge, then click on the donate or fundraise buttons to save your chosen charity, and get ready to complete your challenge. Good luck!
