As we head towards winter with all its uncertainties, now's a good time to make sure you are taking good care of your mental health.
According to the Mental Health Foundation: ‘World Mental Health Day is a chance to talk about mental health in general, how we need to look after it, and how important it is to talk about things and get help if you are struggling'.
The theme for this year's World Mental Health Day is ‘Mental health in an unequal world', acknowledging the fact that some of the people struggling the most are those who were already facing considerable challenges when the pandemic began - people with long-term health conditions, or facing discrimination, or parenting on their own.
Much has been said of the restorative powers that archery has on mental wellbeing - how it helps focus the mind, allowing distractions and anxieties to fall away as attention is set on hitting the target. As seasons change, many archers will still be looking to shoot outside in the fresh air for as long as they can, which in itself can boost mental health. Whether you're indoors or out, enjoying the sport alongside friends and/or family at the range can make all the difference to how you feel.
The green ribbon is the international symbol for mental health awareness. All proceeds fund Mental Health Foundation's life-changing work as a UK charity dedicated to mental health. You can buy yours from the Mental Health Foundation.
