Registration for Archery GB's 2017 flagship youth event, the Youth Festival, is open.
Taking place over a week from 21 August, the Youth Festival welcomes archers aged 20 and under from the UK and beyond. The world record status competition gives young archers the opportunity to compete in the international World Archery target format, including team and mixed team head to heads.
A 50-metre shoot is also offered for the youngest archers in the cub category. In 2016, the 50-metre girls' competition was won by 12-year-old Imogen Newby after a closely fought final with Penny Healey, 11.
Imogen said: "I loved the youth festival. Last year it was great fun and I got to see all my friends. It is run smoothly and is a great experience of what the future could be like."
The Youth Festival will be the final competition in the new series of Key Events for 2017 and is renowned for its fun and friendly atmosphere. While the competition is hot, the focus is on learning and development in an inclusive environment. Athletes who are unfamiliar with any aspect of the World Archery format can learn about how the process works from the experts. There is also a "team managers" meeting on the first day of the festival where parents and coaches are briefed on what to expect and can ask questions of the organisers.
