The recent webinar exploring how archery clubs can engage with Help for Heroes veterans was a resounding success, with over 70 attendees.
This strong interest highlights the archery community’s enthusiasm for fostering meaningful connections with veterans.
Clubs now have a unique opportunity to promote taster sessions and beginner courses, providing veterans the pathway to develop new skills and join a supportive community. Archery’s blend of skill-building and community makes it an ideal activity for veterans seeking positive engagement.
Paul, a course participant, reflected on his experience: “I attended the course to explore whether I needed to adjust my approach to offering archery to veterans. It was incredibly informative and encouraged me to be more open-minded. The key is truly listening, adapting to their needs, and ensuring they have the best possible experience - whether it’s a one-off session or the start of a new journey.”
Ryan Hunt, the webinar organiser, remarked: "It was brilliant to welcome so many people to the workshop. It’s plain to see that the archery community is clearly one that values inclusivity. We hope that everyone on the workshop now feels confident, ensuring any new members from the armed forces community are welcomed and supported."
Help for Heroes will promote archery to the armed forces community in the coming months. Clubs interested in participating can fill out a short form here. A recording of the webinar is also available here.
