Archery GB Statement

Archery GB recently received a formal complaint centred around safeguarding, and a police enquiry has been conducted. We would like to thank the police for their timely response on these matters. We are naturally pleased to have the police confirm that no further action is to be taken and there is no case to answer regarding the allegations.

Archery GB can confirm that police were contacted in respect of an alleged incident that occurred on an international trip in the last four years. Archery GB was informed that no new information or evidence has been received, and that there is no live UK police investigation in relation to this matter.  Consequently, the staff suspension has been lifted.

The staff, athletes, volunteers of Archery GB and its wider membership receive our full support when dealing with complaints. We operate an open culture of continual improvement and believe that our approach allows us to support all members and deal with complaints in accordance with our procedures.

As the national governing body of archery in the UK, we operate with integrity and with our membership at heart. Our governance procedures are in line with the best in UK sport and our organisation is overseen by independent and elected board members; who collectively bring a significant amount of knowledge and experience to our sport. We are respected at both home and abroad.

The sport of archery continues to flourish on many fronts, in June a record number of clubs took part in the Archery GB Big Weekend welcoming over 8,000 people to their Â"have-a-go” events across the UK.  Last week at the World Youth Cup in Croatia the GB junior and cadet teams, topped the medal table winning 6 golds, 3 silver and 3 bronze an inspiring performance from our Talent Pathway. We are keen to take advantage of the upsurge in interest driven by the influence of Games of Thrones, Hunger Games and Warcraft as more and more people take up the sport.

Archery GB will continue to provide strong and supportive leadership that is fair, balanced and which inspires, values and recognises everyone in the organisation.
