Archery GB is happy to announce the appointment of Arran Coggan as our new Director of Participation.
Arran had been the Acting Director of Participation for a number of months but after a comprehensive selection process his confirmation in the role can now be announced.Â
Club representatives will be familiar with Arran as he has worked in various roles at AGB since joining 11Â years ago.Â
The Director of Participation leads a dedicated team to empower and inspire current and future generations to develop the grassroots of our sport, through club development, workforce (coaches, judges, volunteers) and participation programmes.Â
As a senior member of the Archery GB strategic leadership team, Arran will also contribute to the development and delivery of our strategic ambitions, driving our mission of rebuilding, reimagining and re-presenting archery over the next 5 years.Â
Before joining Archery GB, Arran worked in sports development in local government. Outside of work Arran is involved in hockey as chairman of his local club. He is also a director for a volunteering charity which supports community projects across the Newark and Sherwood area. Â
Neil Armitage, Archery GB's CEO, said:Â Â"I am delighted that Arran is our new Director of Participation at such a critical time for Archery GB. His knowledge of our sport and the sporting landscape together with his extensive experience of sports development will bring significant benefit to our organisation and the wider sport.
"As a key member of our Senior Leadership Team he will be an important asset to the implementation of the new AGB strategy and our future discussions with Sport England."Â
Arran Coggan, Director of Participation, said: Â"I'm thrilled to have been appointed Director of Participation and am looking forward to continuing to have an impact across the sport.Â
Â"Throughout my time in archery, I have seen amazing volunteers and clubs going to great lengths to showcase the sport to a wide range of people. We need to continue to demonstrate how archery can enrich lives. All sports have a duty to address inequalities and ensure that they are not only inclusive but accessible. Â
Â"There are many challenges, and opportunities, ahead of us, and I want to make sure that archery can make the most of these and, by working together across the whole archery community, ensure the sport continues to provide for archers no matter what bow-type or discipline.”
