International University Sports Federation (FISU) and the organising committee for Chengdu 2022 have confirmed that the World University Games will take place from 26 June - 7 July 2022.
The Summer World University Games is the next biggest multi-sport event after the Olympics Games.
Organised by the International University Sports Federation (FISU), the World University Summer Games will be held this year in Chengdu, China.
British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) is now working towards the dates, 26 June - 7 July 2022, with the national governing bodies of the sports offered at these Games.
Nominations are now open for students to be part of the GB students delegation at this major event.
The Games represent the next biggest multi-sport event after the Olympics and provides the platform for students to compete on the international stage alongside competitors from countries all around the world. The Games are widely recognised as a unique performance environment and as a significant development opportunity for both athletes and support staff.
GB students have been to all but one of these events since their inception in 1937, and BUCS is very keen to continue the participation. They are actively working towards sending a multi-sport delegation despite some financial and logistical challenges currently faced.
All nominees are asked to check that they meet the selection criteria set by FISU and the sport-specific national governing bodies (NGBs) before submitting a nomination. Please refer to Archery GB's World University Games selection policy here, also in the Documents section below.
All eligible athletes must complete and return the athlete nomination by Monday 7 February 2022 (23.59), after which BUCS will review all submissions and coordinate selections with staff from the associated sports.
As part of the nomination, you are also required to submit a ‘Certificate of Academic Eligibility' form and a ‘BUCS Institution Athlete Nomination' form and send these to GBStudents@bucs.org.uk.
