We're creating a Competition and Events Strategy to showcase the very best of our sport at every level at future events and competitions.
Archery GB has built a strong reputation for delivering events, at both a national and international level.
To support us on our journey, we invited bids from firms to help us deliver a strategy that will be innovative and evolving to meet the needs of all those archers that aspire to compete.
Following a comprehensive tender process, we have selected George Wood Sports to support us. George Wood has 16 years' of senior level experience in the sports development sector, having been on the Senior Leadership Teams at Swim England and Badminton England.
The team at George Wood Sports will be conducting a survey, visiting events and speaking with a range of people over the strategy development period. County and Regional Associations, and the Home Nations, will be contacted shortly for their views on the competition structure. Next week, (week commencing 6 May) the survey will be open for members, tournament organisers, volunteers and judges to have their say. We would urge everyone involved in archery to complete the survey and we will keep you updated on progress as the plan develops.
Arran Coggan, Director of Sport Development, said: "We know that competition can provide archers with the chance to progress and improve, or simply challenge themselves. There is also a route to elite sport. But there are many more valuable opportunities from meeting up with friends to allowing volunteers to give back to the sport.
"We are looking forward to working with George as we develop a plan for the future – which will support competitions and events at every level as we strive for Archery GB to be looked upon as a world-leading event deliverer."
Archery GB last reviewed competitions and tournaments in 2018, with a series of workshops and then recommendations – which mainly focused on improvements to the organisation and hosting of National Tournaments.
George Wood said: "I am delighted to be working with Archery GB on a competition and events strategy. Competition is such an essential component of any sporting offer and this is an exciting opportunity to set out a future direction that will support Archery GB's mission to rebuild, reimagine and re-present archery.
"Our team has expertise in sports strategy, customer insight and event delivery and we are really looking forward to working with the great team at Archery GB. We take a collaborative approach to our work as it is vital that the views of the archery community are central to the development of the strategy."
