At the second stage of the Hyundai World Cup in Shanghai, Ella will shoot in the live semi-finals.
At a very rainy Shanghai World Cup, the GB team have made their first finals of the week. World number one compound woman Ella Gibson has made the semi-finals at Antalya and now Shanghai.
Ella said: “I am planning to just focus on myself and forget about everything else and see where that lands me. It’s amazing to make the final four again, of course I would love to keep this up all season.”
In the 1/8 round, Ella unfortunately had to come up against teammate Grace Chappell who she beat 143-140. Next, she faced India’s 12th ranked Aditi Gopichand Swami. Going into the last end, Ella was three points up. The Indian archer shot a 29 to Ella’s 27 which wasn’t quite enough to take the win, and Ella won 142-141.
In the live semi-finals, Ella will shoot against 16th ranked Indian archer Kaur Avneet with the hopes of coming home with the coveted gold medal.
“There are some amazing women shooting. Every event and every match is a battle, but that is also so great to see from the women’s division.”
For the compound women team, they narrowly missed out on the bronze medal against Türkiye with 231-230, putting them in 4th.
Tomorrow, the recurves will shoot their individual matches in the afternoon, and in the morning Alex Wise and Penny Healey will shoot in the mixed team.
