Archery GB Board member Helen Bierton is resigning from her position as an Elected Director of AGB.
Helen joined the Board in April 2023 and stepped down after the last Board meeting in November 2025. Helen has reluctantly decided to step down from the AGB Board as her new executive role allows less time for her to commit to volunteering.
During her time on the Board, Helen has been a member of the Audit and Risk committee and provided oversight to delivering the AGB strategic plan. Helen also completed training on embedding safeguarding into strategy, which has helped the organisation to ensure safeguarding is embedded at every level of the organisation.
Helen has been involved in archery for over 35 years; she started the sport with Welbeck Archers in Nottinghamshire, where she remains a member, and went on to represent Great Britain as a junior and a senior, culminating in representing Great Britain at the Athens Olympics in 2004. Helen now works in an executive role in banking.
Chair Mark Briegal said: "We would like to say a massive thank you to Helen for her support over the last two years.
"During her time on the Board, Helen has shared her enthusiasm for the sport, helping the organisation to grow archery and reach a diverse group of communities. Helen has also been an active supporter of our national teams in their international competitions. We will miss Helen's enthusiasm, obvious love for the sport and strategic vision."
Helen said: "It's been a real pleasure to be part of the Board and be able to give something back to the archery community. It's been especially lovely to be connected with the club, county and regions again and see the continued efforts of the amazing volunteers that make our sport, either through coaching, tournament organising, judging or just running Start Archery and beginners' courses, where more people can find this incredible sport. I'm sorry to be having to leave, but will still be very much connected to the sport and wish the team at Archery GB every success."
Details of the process for filling the Board vacancy will be shared in the New Year.
