Following GB's team announcement for the European Youth Archery Championships, Archery GB has announced details of the final selection opportunity for the third RU18W place.
The 2022 European Youth Archery Championships will take place at Lilleshall National Sports Centre from 15-20 August.
Following an extensive selection process, the team for the event has been selected including two pre-selected athletes in the RU18W category who met all the provisions of the selection policy.
Archery GB is keen to send a full team (three athletes per category) to compete at the European Youth Archery Championships and has been continuing to consider opportunities within the provisions of the selection policy to facilitate this in the RU18W category.
Under 5.6 of the selection policy, Archery GB reserves the right, but is under no obligation, to invite further athletes into the selection process after the original minimum qualifying scores deadline. Archery GB consider this an important opportunity for a home championships but this does not set a precedent for future selection decisions.
The final selection opportunity for the third RU18W spot for the European Youth Archery Championships will take place on Tuesday 26 July at the Archery GB Youth Festival at Lilleshall National Sports Centre. Tuesday 26 July is also the final entries deadline for the European Youth Archery Championships.
The top scoring RU18W on the WA60 ranking round will be invited to join the European Youth Archery Championships team.
The selection panel consider that this pinnacle national youth event is the best available opportunity to effectively identify competitive performance. There are still places remaining to shoot at the Youth Festival in all categories and athletes of all categories are encouraged to sign up to experience an internationally aligned competition.
