Support GB at the World Transplant Games 2025

The GB archery team need your help to compete at the World Transplant Games 2025 in Dresden, Germany, a global celebration of strength, resilience, and determination.

The World Transplant Games 2025, taking place from 17-24 August, brings together thousands of transplant recipients from over 60 countries. The Games highlight the life-changing impact of sport while building strong connections, raising awareness, and honouring the gift of organ donation.

Archery remains a standout event, offering participants of all abilities a platform to stay active, build confidence, and connect with others. For many, archery has been a life-changing pursuit. Peter Nyland, a liver transplant recipient in 2018, discovered archery in 2021 and found it deeply fulfilling. Khalid Bostan, who received a kidney transplant in 2014, has earned multiple medals at the British Transplant Games and is now training for Dresden.

The Great Britain archery team, comprised of transplant recipients, will proudly represent their country and honour their donors. The squad includes individuals who took up archery post-transplant as a way to improve their mental health, stay active, and protect their bodies from more vigorous sports. Athletes like Pete Nicholls, a heart transplant recipient and current world transplant champion, show how the sport helps people achieve their goals and connect with others.

In 2019, at the last World Transplant Games in Newcastle, Great Britain and Northern Ireland secured an impressive medal tally, including eight golds, three silvers, and three bronzes in individual rounds, plus a clean sweep in the team event. The team now hopes to surpass that record in Dresden.

Despite the honour of competing, this trip is entirely self-funded, with participants covering travel, accommodation, training, and equipment. To support these athletes and their inspiring journey, please contact team captain Sam Newton at samsgoneshooting@gmail.com.
