The Sport and Recreation Alliance have launched a survey to measure the impact of COVID-19 on grassroots sports, and need your help!
As we are all aware, grassroots sports have been heavily affected over the past year, including archery. The Sport and Recreation Alliance and the Sport Industry Research Centre at Sheffield Hallam University are working together to find out more about the impact of coronavirus. They have created a survey to find the true extent that COVID-19 and lockdown has had on grassroots physical activity and community clubs.
Even though archery is a naturally socially distanced sport, we know that the community is under a lot of strain. We want to support the Sport and Recreation Alliance in creating as full of a picture as possible around membership, income and operation of community clubs in the current climate.
The information gathered will help form discussions with the government and partners on the effectiveness of industry support, and the prospects for a phased return to organised sport.
To participate in the survey, please click here. The closing date for the survey is 14 February 2021.
By participating in the survey, the SRA can get a better understanding of the impact from lockdown. From this, they can create a sector-wide understanding of the challenges that grassroots clubs face with restrictions remaining in place. Along with this, they can also work out how the return of grassroots physical activity can take place.
As many clubs as possible need to take part in this survey to help ensure the research is reliable. The research will use responses from grassroots organisations, such as archery clubs, to build an understanding of what is being currently faced. Archery clubs that take part will help strengthen the sector's call for necessary support.
As a result of the findings, Archery GB will be able to obtain the findings specifically for archery. Therefore we will have a clearer understanding of what you, our members, need.
Whilst at home, we are offering many archery related activities free online. Firstly, Mobility Monday. This is a series of bow training skills and drills, mobility movements to keep you bow fit. Secondly, we are premiering different Workout Wednesday videos each week to keep you fit and healthy. Thirdly, as we did last year, Improve Your Game.
All three of these series should help keep you fit, healthy and bow fit for when we can get back to our clubs.
We also have a wide variety of webinars to have a watch during that free time.
The SRA will aim to produce headline findings from the data collected in early March. The SRA will provide each organisation that has helped in disseminating the survey with a dashboard of findings relating to our members and the activities to which they are associated with.
They will endeavour to provide anonymised raw data of respondents relevant to our organisation to allow for further analysis.
