Junior National Outdoor Championships 2024

The 2024 Junior National Outdoor Championships took place from 6-7 July at Lilleshall, bringing together almost 200 archers from across the country.

This event is the perfect shoot, bringing together juniors of all ages and abilities for a fun, relaxed weekend of archery. Many of the UK’s best archers began their journeys shooting national events like JNOC, including 2024 Olympian Penny Healey.

Penny said: “I entered JNOC for the first time to get experience really. My parents knew I wanted to get to a higher level, and for me it was a local event that had a lot of people competing in it. It’s a really nice competition, lots of friendly people, it’s really great to be at.”

One of many impressive performances from day one was by Roman Evans from Clwyd Archers. At only eight-years-old, he came away with a bronze medal in the U12 recurve men’s category, after only first picking up a bow in December 2023.

U18 compound woman, Maisie Hailes from Wellingborough Open Archery Club, has suffered with a knee injury for the last three years. She shot her first full JNOC weekend this year with the support of an agent who was able to collect her arrows for her while she focused on shooting.
