Archery GB is continuing a consultation to reduce the administration of joining and renewing for clubs and members.
Last year, we introduced a range of changes to put you, the member, at the centre of our offer, refreshing the features and benefits, whilst ensuring the sport can grow and prosper. You can read a summary of those changes, and further updates, here.
Thank you to everyone who has offered feedback on the changes that were announced last year. We have listened to what you said about wanting broader consultation on any future changes.
We are now beginning the second phase of the project and have organised a series of in-person focus groups and online sessions to gather your views to ensure any changes improve processes for everyone. We will also be sending an online survey to all members to ensure everyone has a chance to have their say.
To ensure that everyone attending has the opportunity to share their views and input, the focus group size will be limited. We have invited those members who said, via our annual membership survey, that they would like to help us shape the future of membership. A number of members contacted us when we first announced the membership changes, these members have also been invited to attend.
The focus groups will take place in January, February and March in Nottinghamshire, North Yorkshire, Gloucestershire, Kent, and Cheshire. Venues have been chosen based on the location of those members who have volunteered to take part. We are also organising online focus groups for those unable to attend in person.
The focus groups will be looking into two areas of membership:
We will review the whole customer membership journey – from new club members to annual renewing members, direct and affiliated members. This will help us better understand the stages that could be made easier. How could the process be made more efficient?
We are piloting the option for AGB to collect County and Region fees, as we already do in Northern Ireland. The pilot will answer questions such as: What are the practicalities of this for all stakeholders; members, clubs, Counties and Regions? Where does it work and not work?
Counties, Regions and Home Nations are vitally important to the administration of archery. We know many volunteers hold multiple roles at a club, County, Regional and Home Nations level and we want to hear from these key organisers and supporters as part of the consultation.
Alongside the focus groups, we have organised a two-day meeting at Lilleshall National Sports Centre for Regional and Home Nations Chairs and Secretaries on 17 and 18 January.
To ensure everyone is given a voice, we will be conducting an online survey which every member will be invited to complete. This survey will focus on the same discussion points as the focus groups.
We will publish news stories on our website and provide regular updates on the membership questions page. We will also share developments in our monthly members' ezine and Archery UK magazine. To make sure you receive our magazine and ezines, log in to the members' portal and check your communication preferences.
We look forward to hearing from you either through focus groups, the Regions and Home Nations sessions or via the survey.
We will continue to listen to your feedback so that we can action practical solutions that work for everyone, enabling us to continue to grow and develop the sport of archery.
