"I'm really happy that the hard work and changes are paying off."
The shooting at the Medellin World Cup has come to an end for another year, and GB had a very strong week.
During the qualification round, compound woman Ella Gibson ranked in 7th place with 700 points, and recurve man Monty Orton ranked in 5th place with 683 points. This makes this the highest score shot by a GB recurve man internationally since Larry Godfrey, who shot 680 points in 2012.
Monty said: "I'm really happy that the hard work and changes are paying off. It's helped going into the European Games as I know my equipment set up works and my shot works, so it's given me confidence."
The hot weather and changeable wind posed a challenge for the archers during the eliminations, both individually and in the team rounds.
The compound women team which comprised of Ella Gibson, Izzy Carpenter and Grace Chappell finished up in 6th place overall after facing the 2nd ranked home team, Colombia. Ella Gibson was joined by World Cup debut archer Dillon Crow for the mixed team, where they finished in 9th after a close match with the brother-sister duo from Estonia, Lisell and Robin Jaatma.
After ranking in 5th place, recurve mixed team partners, Monty Orton and Bryony Pitman, shot their way to an overall 9th place finish.
We would like to wish the recurve archers and compound archer Ella Gibson all the best as they head out to Poland for the European Games.
