Three British recurvers - Tom Hall, Sarah Bettles and Rachel Moon - reached the quarter finals of the Roma Archery Trophy stage of the Indoor World Series.
Tom, who qualified in seventh place, defeated Ryan Holden 6-4 after a tough fight then beat France's Ianis Lefrancois 6-2. That left him facing the on-form second seed Brady Ellison. Tom battled hard but was eventually beaten 7-3. Ellison went on to take the silver medal.
Sarah, ranked eighth, was given a bye into the last 15 and beat Italy's Chiara Rebagliati 6-2 but could not get past top seed Kim Chaeyun, losing 1-7. The Korean eventually finished in fourth spot.
Junior Rachel was our top qualifier, seeded third. She saw off Switzerland's Leeloo Granger 7-1 and Aleksandra Ruuskanen of Finland 6-2. Then she came up against the eventual gold medallist, Ukraine's Olha Shubkina, and was just edged out of a semi-final place, losing 4-6.
Senior Patrick Huston beat France's Jocelyn De Grandis 7-3 but just missed out on a place in the quarter finals, losing 4-6 to Andreas Gstoettner of Austria. Morgan Donaldson, seeded 21st, lost 7-1 to Russia's Aldar Tsybikzhapov.
In the compound competition, Edinburgh University's Sarah Prieels was ranked ninth and defeated Sandra Van Der Looy of the Netherlands 145-143. All that stood between her and a place in the quarter finals was Sunniva Lislevand. It was neck and neck all the way and both athletes finished on 147 points, forcing a shoot-off. Both shot a 10 - but the Norwegian's arrow was marginally closer to the centre, ending Sarah's hopes. Bayley Sargeant, ranked 14th, lost by a single point to Denmark's Erika Damsbo and Sarah Moon was beaten 144-141 by Mariia Vinogradova of Russia.
Among those who just missed the cut were barebow archer Carol-Anne Seez, compounder Hannah Brown and recurvers Malcolm Dukes, Tom Fewz, Leslie Day, Daniel Sims, Michael Clarke and John Stanley.
Some of these took part in a secondary tournament. You can find all the results here and you will be can watch the medal matches on World Archery's Facebook page or YouTube channel.
