Following a successful UK test event of Run Archery, another opportunity is being arranged on 11 September in Birmingham. Come and have a go at a unique archery discipline and get your heart racing on and off the shooting line.
In April, Archery GB organised a pilot event in Newark, bringing together a small group of archers to try their hands - and legs - at Run Archery.
Run Archery is a shooting discipline, similar to biathlon, connecting archery with running. It provides an alternative archery discipline that may help the sport with the retention and recruitment of archers and runners.
Shooting takes place over 18 metres, with archers carrying the bow either in the hands or in a harness. There are no compound bows, and the draw weight is limited to 35lbs maximum.
At the next pilot event, we will once again use the SPRINT version of the sport which includes:
This event, for current Archery GB members only, is being held at Redhill Archers, Birmingham, and will include four races for men, women, U18 men and U18 women.
World Archery Europe have been encouraging more federations to take up the sport and increase the numbers participating as well as increasing the numbers taking part in the European Cup.
Anyone interested in attending should book their place via the member's portal.
