GB’s recurve women’s team get the gold medal at the European Games
In Krakow at the European Games, the recurve women earn another medal for Team GB, taking home gold in the team event. After qualification, Penny Healey, Bryony Pitman and Jaspreet Sagoo ranked 3rd, which put them against 6th ranked Denmark in the quarter finals. They won this match 5-3 to go through to next face the 2nd ranked team from Italy. The semi-final was a true nail-biter as the match went all the way to a tie, but GB kept their cool to win with a 29 to Italy’s 24. In order to take the gold, they had to beat the 1st ranked French team. The two opponent both shot a 51 in the first end to tie, but then GB shot a 55 and a 57 to take the next four set points, winning with 5-1.
Bryony said: "I think we put on a good performance. We worked really well as a team and it payed off. To come out here and win this medal has been absolutely amazing."
