Meet the team of archers selected to compete for Great Britain at the 2025 World Championships.
From 5-12 September, the finest archers from around the globe will come together in Gwangju, South Korea to compete in the World Championships. Everyone will be gunning for gold, and the selected GB athletes are no exception.
The team in question showcases some household names, such as Olympians Penny Healey, Patrick Huston, Conor Hall, and Tom Hall, and on the compound side, previous world number one Ella Gibson. Some of our athletes will be debuting at their very first senior world championships, including compound man Luke Davis and recurve women Théa Rogers and Megan Costall.
The compound women’s team, comprising of Ella Gibson, Izzy Carpenter, and Layla Annison, are the same trio who competed at the previous World Championships in 2023 in Berlin. They came away with fifth place in the team round, narrowly losing to the team from Korea, so this time they will be aiming for a coveted podium place.
Mark Beecher, Performance Director, said: “The team has earned their place to represent GB, and have significant performance pedigree and ability to push for podium places. Penny Healey, on the back of her success at the World Youth Championships, is going into these World Championships with a confident mindset and looking to double up her podium places. This event marks the start of the journey towards the LA Olympic Games; we get the opportunity to see where we are and how we can progress over the next 24 months to secure those quota places.”
Jon Nott, Compound Manager, said: “The World Championships is always the most challenging of all the events in the target calendar. GB have a highly experienced team attending this year’s edition of the Championships, and they will be looking to bring home medals in as many disciplines as possible. For the compounds, the team have had proven results this year internationally, and I am confident in their ability to keep the ball rolling.”
