Koreans train with our recurve squad

A new friendship has been struck up between the Korean National Sports University and Archery GB's recurve squad during a week-long training camp at Lilleshall.

The whole week was set up so that the final day would replicate an international tournament feel. In the run up to the World Championships, it was a great experience for the squad to training with the world's leading nation in the archery community.

Going into the week, Director of Sport David Tillotson had three objectives:

  • Insight into Korea's archery technique and approach to performance
  • To develop friendships and partnerships that Â"normalise” the Koreans
  • To develop a partnership that might offer a base in Seoul in the lead into Tokyo 2020.

He said: Â"We have managed to build a relationship between us and them and looking forward to develop this into next year at the World Cup events, Tokyo and beyond.”

The focus next year is firmly on the World Championships in June. That is the first opportunity for our athletes to secure places at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.

Thank you to K&K Archery and Clickers Archery for their support during this event.
