Chair of the Event Delivery Board vacancy

Archery GB is proud to have been selected by World Archery Europe to host the Archery European Championships in Nottingham in May 2028.

We are looking for a Chair of the Event Delivery Board who is passionate about maintaining and enhancing the UK's reputation as a world-leading host nation, and who shares our vision for the positive impact that major events can have on the pride and well-being of the nation.

The Event Delivery Board will serve as the Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the 2028 European Championships. It will provide oversight and strategic direction to the development, planning, and staging of the event. This oversight encompasses all aspects of the event requirement, including but not limited to, organisation of all aspects of event delivery; sporting competition, medal ceremonies etc; athlete experience; marketing and branding; media and broadcast coverage; commercialisation; budget; risk management and governance.

The 2028 European Championships will include the European Continental Qualification (CQT) Tournament, which will be the main continental qualifying competition for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games. The primary reason for staging the 2028 European Championships will be to give UK archers the best possible opportunity of qualifying for the Olympic Games.

Director of Safe Sport and Governance vacancy

We are looking for a Director of Safe Sport and Governance to develop and deliver the organisation's strategic approach to safeguarding, welfare, and governance across all levels of the sport. This senior role will ensure a person-centred approach, making the welfare of all involved (archers, coaches, clubs, parents, and staff) paramount.

The Archery GB Director of Safe Sport and Governance role requires a blend of professional expertise, leadership competencies, and interpersonal skills to drive a person-centred and safe culture. Reporting to the CEO, and a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, the Director will oversee three main areas: the Safeguarding team (including safeguarding, investigations, and complaints), Sport Governance and Data Protection.

Core duties include:

Safe Sport

  • Strategic Leadership: Leading, shaping, and delivering a positive, person-centred strategy for welfare and safe sport, ensuring alignment with the organisation's vision and legal/ethical responsibilities.
  • Policy and Procedure Development: Developing and implementing robust policies, procedures, and practices to ensure all members, clubs, and the wider community have the necessary tools for a safe environment.
  • Case Management Oversight: Managing the overall process for handling safeguarding concerns, complaints, and disciplinary matters effectively and fairly, including referrals to statutory authorities when necessary. Working with the Case Management Panel and disciplinary panels to facilitate outcomes of cases and complaints.
  • Team Leadership (internal): Leading and developing a small team of internal experts including a safeguarding officer, discipline/compliance officer and DBS officers and communications lead and secretariat support
  • Team Leadership (external): leading, communicating with and being an ambassador for a national network including safeguarding officers, national welfare officers, and complaints resolution officers throughout the sport to deliver safe sport and disciplinary processes at the right level.
  • Reform Implementation: Playing a pivotal role in the delivery of Archery GB' action plan to address issues and transform the sport's culture.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including UK Sport, Sport England, the NSPCC's Child Protection in Sport Unit (CPSU), Anne Craft Trust and the Archery community (clubs, parents, athletes).
  • Culture Promotion: Cultivating a safe, inclusive culture where individuals feel empowered to raise concerns and know they will be listened to.
  • Education and Training: Ensuring that relevant training and education on safeguarding and safe practice is provided to staff, board members coaches, welfare officers, and other personnel. Ensuring that relevant training and education is available to volunteers throughout the sport, and working with others in Archery GB to increase engagement with that training and education.

Governance

  • Board Reporting: The Director reports to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and will attend and provide regular, formal reports to the main Board of Directors. These reports cover incident trends, performance data, and strategic progress.
  • Committee Participation: The Director typically attends meetings of the Case Management Panel, which provides scrutiny and makes recommendations to the Board on relevant matters, for approval.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring that Archery GB meets all requirements of the UK Sport and Sport England Code for Sports Governance. This includes adhering to national legislation and best practices regarding child protection and adults at risk.
  • Policy Review and Recommendation: Reviewing the effectiveness of the welfare and safe sport operational framework and recommending policy updates to the Board. This ensures that policies are up-to-date and effective in protecting people from harm.
  • Strategic Accountability: Leading the organisation with responsibility and accountability to ensure that all governance decisions are driven by a commitment to the safety and wellbeing of participants.
  • External Audits: Collaborating with external bodies and statutory agencies (e.g., the NSPCC's Child Protection in Sport Unit) to ensure all procedures and policies are robust and externally verified.
  • Annual Reporting: Assisting in the preparation of the narrative regarding the CMP’s work in the company's annual report.

Timeline

The closing date for applications is 5pm on Friday 23 January 2026.

Archery GB will undertake initial candidate screening. Following the closing date the Selection Panel will convene to determine a shortlist for interview.

First stage interview

First round interviews will be held remotely in early February 2026. The Selection Panel will meet shortlisted candidates where  suitability for the role will be examined and experience and competency evaluated. Candidates will have the opportunity  to understand the role, culture and expectations of Archery GB by asking their own questions.

Second stage interview

Final interviews will take place in Lilleshall. Successful candidates will be selected for second-stage interviews where they will be asked to prepare a presentation and discuss their approach to the role in more detail. A detailed brief will be provided at the appropriate time.


 

Sport Development Officer

At Archery GB we are passionate about providing a quality archery experience for all who want to take part. We do this through supporting our clubs and local partners to develop, promote and enhance the sport of archery.

As a Sport Development Officer, you will support the ongoing development of our club network, to ensure that our members and volunteer workforce are supported to thrive and improve, and will build relationships across your geographical area to increase access to our sport positively across our communities.

On a day-to-day basis you will build understanding of the barriers and pressures associated with providing a positive archery experience and work across your geographical area to ensure good practice is shared and a proactive approach to club development is adopted.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a good awareness of the sporting landscape, the desire to make a difference and the skills to work with and through others to deliver. You will also have the opportunity to influence and shape national projects.

Knowledge of archery is not essential however you will have experience in sport development at club or regional level.

Based from home you will need to be a self-starter who has the confidence and skills to initiate and build strong relationships within and outside Archery GB. Working collaboratively with internal colleagues, club officials and local activity partners you will demonstrate the energy and drive to make a measurable difference within your area. The role requires the ability to work flexibly including regular evenings and weekends when required.

We're looking for a Case Manager (Complaints) to play a vital role in managing and resolving lower-level concerns and disciplinary complaints within our sport. This is an opportunity to make a real impact by ensuring that issues are handled promptly, fairly, and in line with national and local policy.

What we're looking for is someone with strong decision-making and problem-solving skills, experience in case management, complaints handling, or a similar role, excellent communication skills and the ability to work with diverse stakeholders and a commitment to safeguarding and promoting a safe sporting environment.

You will lead complaint resolution, support the network of clubs, counties, and regions, while providing guidance to ensure consistency with Archery GB policy, drive improvement with stakeholders to identify trends and recommend service enhancements and champion safeguarding standards across the organisation.

Performance System Lead

Archery GB, through its World Class Performance (WCP) Programmes, has an exciting opportunity for a new position within its Senior Leadership Team. The Performance System Lead will be responsible for driving excellence in athlete and coach development through integrated performance support, ensuring an aligned coaching and talent development strategy and fostering a high-performance culture that sustains international success.

This is a new and exciting position across both the Olympic and Paralympic World Class Performance Programmes. As we start to progress towards the Los Angeles Games, alongside our development of athletes for the Brisbane Games, this role will play a significant part in the programme’s medal ambitions.

The Performance System Lead is a strategic leadership role within the World Class Programme, responsible for driving excellence in athlete and coach development through integrated performance support. Acting as an effective member of the WCP Senior Leadership Team (SLT), you will develop strong relationships with the Performance Director, Coaches, Pathway Manager and Performance Operations Manager.

The role will ensure an aligned coaching and talent development strategy that will equip our future performance athletes and coaches with a seamless progression into the World Class Performance Programmes, fostering a high-performance culture that sustains international success. Linked to this is the element of ensuring the multi-disciplinary team deliver world-class services across the two WCP programmes.

The successful candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of high-performance sport systems with experience of managing people within elite sport and leading/working with multi-disciplinary teams in the pursuit of athlete development.

Extensive experience leading high-performance programmes or teams is also beneficial, with a proven track record of making a difference; establishing and maintaining a culture of collaboration, teamwork, innovation and athlete support. A comprehensive understanding of coaching, sports science, data and current practice in international sport performance is also essential, as is proven experience in optimising the potential of staff and athletes.

We want to hear from people who can make a significant impact to our World Class Performance Programmes and team ethos by bringing new ideas and solutions to the table for the programmes, in order to exceed our medal ambitions over the next two Olympic and Paralympic Games.
