The Archery GB 50+ Championships

The 2023 Archery GB 50+ Championships will take place on August 6 2023 at Wallingford Sports Park.

Archery GB tournaments

Event Format

WA70m, WA60m and WA50m rounds to be shot in accordance with World Archery Rules of Shooting. Arrows will be shot in ends of 6 arrows in 4 minutes. There will be four archers per target. Compounds will shoot at individual 6 zone target faces.

All categories will shoot elimination matches after the round. The event is a Tier 2 ranking event for recurve and compound archers.

WRS WA 60m round (recurve and longbow)
WRS WA 50m round (compound)
WRS WA 50m round (barebow)
WRS Metric 80-30 (visually impaired)

Awards

Entry is only open to those in the 50+ category (born 1973 or earlier). Recurve and longbow archers should shoot the 60m round, compound archers the 50m compound round, and barebow archers the 50m barebow round (122cm).

Additional awards will be awarded based on the ranking rounds only to an additional 65+ category (born 1958 or earlier). These archers will be included in the head to head with those in the 50+ category.

Please ensure that the organiser is aware of any specific requirements you have. Please do not assume we already know.

Archers who are unable to get the target are asked, if possible, to arrange for an assistant to aid in scoring and arrow collection. 

Programme athletes are reminded that they train and compete under their athlete agreement and related code of conduct for the duration of their time on an AGB programme. 

World and European para records can only be claimed by Para classified athletes.

All athletes can claim able-bodied, World or British records in line with the World Archery and Archery GB rules.

Toilets – There are two disabled access toilets in the pavilion and there will be two disabled portaloos on the field behind the shooting line.

No refunds will be given after the closing date. For refunds prior, please contact the tournament organiser. 

The decision of the Competitions and Events Manager will be final. 

Please refer to Archery GB rules of shooting for dress regulations, all archers should comply with dress regulations until after presentations of the awards. 

Archers competing at record status tournaments may be subject to testing. Competitors who are approached to give samples must comply; Non-compliance will be treated as a positive result.  By entering this competition, you consent to testing, this is in line with UK Anti-Doping Policy, Rule 5.7.2. 

Smoking/vaping is not allowed on the field of play; there are designated smoking/vaping spaces behind the tent area.

Event formats can be changed on the day due to unforeseen circumstances by the competition manager, organiser and judge in charge in collaboration with competitors. 

Lost arrows must be reported to a judge or member of the field party (please remember to inform them if you later find the arrow). It is the archer’s responsibility to account for all arrows before leaving the field. 

Well behaved dogs and assistance dogs are permitted.

By entering this event you agree that details such as Name, Bowstyle, Category or Club may be published in documents or lists relating to the event, and at a schedule decided by Archery GB Competitions.

Target List will be published on the day. Please contact the organiser if you need confirmation of entry. Results will be published on the Archery GB website. 

Your email will be used for entry acknowledgement.
