Archery GB has the privilege of having the Olympic Squad train at St. George's Park.
This past week saw the Olympic Squad train at St. George's Park in Staffordshire, home of England football teams.
The venue has recently hosted British Rowing, England Rugby and England Cricket. To be training at such a prestigious sporting venue is a great boost for the squad.
As across the landscape of grassroots sports, the vast majority of the archery membership has sadly not been able to go to their clubs and enjoy our sport due to the national covid restrictions. Due to the on-going preparation for the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Tokyo later this year, the elite end of sports have been fortunate to be able to operate within controlled exemptions.

David Tillotson, Olympic Team Director, stated, "Due to international travel restrictions, we have been unable to get overseas. This is for both training camps and our Olympic selections shoot, as planned.
"The vagaries of the British weather means that we need a suitable indoor, as well as an outdoor option. St. George's Park, the home training base of England football teams, is clearly a quality venue. We have run a test camp here for the last four days.
"We are very happy with all facilities and arrangements. The place is worthy of our best shooting skills and the importance of the selection event."
While the Olympic Squad train at St. George's Park, they will have access to an indoor and outdoor range. The gym, a hydro pool and the Hilton hotel that is on-site. All of the facilities that are being used have been carefully thought about and how they will benefit the athletes.
The Test camp was arranged to explore the best facility and service arrangements that we could make in support of the athletes training and selection preparation.
While the Olympic Squad train at St. George's Park, each athlete and member of staff is required to provide a negative COVID test prior to arrival. They are also required to be monitored and complete other tests throughout the week. Once at the training camp, the athletes and staff are required to stay within the bubble.
All COVID protocols are in place, social distancing, masks and temperature checks are required. Throughout the camp, all equipment used is cleaned before use and put back. Each athlete has their own target faces that are not used by anyone else.
